4 Tips For Keeping Your Home Comfortable For Your Holiday Party
December 1st, 2017 by kcunningham
There’s nothing like the season of giving to put your party organizing skills to test to celebrate the holidays with loved ones, friends, and co-workers! While it’s fun to think of food, laughter, and possibly a few glasses of wine during a party, there’s more to prepare to have a party that is enjoyable and comfortable for everyone.
Check Your Heating Systems
One of the first things to consider in any event is the weather. We know that the cold is everyone’s common enemy when it comes to the winter holidays. As a host, the top of the list to check off is making sure that your place is warm enough for everyone to take their jackets, coats, and gloves off. Be certain that your systems are checked to avoid any mishap that might make your guests slightly shivering. It would be a misfortune to have your systems break down right before or during the party. Keep in mind the things that will contribute to the heat loss such as the front door being open when welcoming guests. Lessening the time the door is open will prevent the temperature from dropping.
Be Mindful Of The Temperature Setting
Having a smart thermostat is a good investment and is the most convenient way of maintaining a room temperature without a worry. A party host or hostess will always be pre-occupied in serving the guests, and it will be a relief to have one less thing to constantly be mindful of. On the other hand, if there is no smart thermostat, set the temperature in a slightly high temperature when the party is starting such as guests arriving and a few cocktails. Then as the party goes on, body heat and heat from the stove will add to the room temperature. Set the temperature lower in the middle of the party or when it is winding down. This is a simple and smart way to level off the room temperature.
Keep Your Food And Drinks Warm
It is tricky to keep your food warm during a party. Invest in warming trays to keep your food warm. These trays can easily be laid out on your table and are easy to operate. This will certainly keep you from constant trips to the stove, oven, or microwave. Also, they can be reused in any other parties that you plan on hosting for the next year! And while a cold beer and an iced punch seem to be a must-have for a party, serving hot drinks would be very welcome during a winter party. A good selection of tea, a brewed cup of coffee, a good mug of hot chocolate, or even warm cocktail drinks, will delight your guests chilled bones. Electric kettles will be your best friend for the rest of your party. These will also contribute to the heat of your home so you will be able to turn your thermostat down once the party starts hoppin’!
Check Your Water Heating Systems
People will be visiting and revisiting your bathroom during a party. There’s more to providing enough toilet paper and paper towels in the bathroom. Make sure that your water heating systems work as guests would be washing their hands or even faces. Cold water can change a person’s temperature quickly. Ensure your water heater is working well so your guests don’t get too chilly washing their hands.
